Lettuce 'Little Gem'
Descrição
How we grow it:
Little Gem is one of those varieties that rewards careful growing. We plant it in succession so there's always a fresh batch coming through, and we grow it without pesticides or herbicides in composted, healthy soil. It's a compact variety that takes its time — and that patience shows in the quality.
The lettuce:
Small, tight, and incredibly satisfying. Little Gem sits somewhere between a cos and a butterhead — with sturdy, upright leaves that are crisp at the centre and tender at the edges. Sweet, mild, and clean in flavour. The kind of lettuce that holds a dressing beautifully without going limp in seconds.
Ordering details:
- Unit: Sold by the head
- Weight: Approximately 150–200g per head
- Harvest: Cut fresh on Wednesday morning, delivered the same day
How to use it:
Little Gem is wonderful halved and grilled briefly on a hot pan — it caramelises beautifully and makes an impressive side dish. Or keep it raw: separate the leaves and use them as scoops for grain salads, tuna, or hummus. Also makes a perfect classic Caesar — the leaves are built for it.
