Kohlrabi ‘Volturno'
Descrição
How we grow it:
We chose the 'Volturno' variety for its reliable quality and sweet, mild flavour. Like everything we grow, it's raised in pesticide-free, composted soil using regenerative methods. Kohlrabi is an honest, easy-to-grow vegetable — and we think it deserves far more attention than it gets.
The kohlrabi:
Crisp, juicy, and mildly sweet — somewhere between a broccoli stem and a turnip, but more delicate than either. The 'Volturno' variety is particularly tender and holds its texture well whether eaten raw or cooked. A genuinely underrated vegetable.
Ordering details:
- Unit: Sold in bunches of 3 (minimum 850 gr')
- Harvest: Lifted fresh on Wednesday morning, delivered the same day
How to use it:
Peel the tough outer skin with a knife (not a peeler) and you're ready. Slice thin and eat raw with hummus or olive oil and salt. Shred into a crunchy slaw with lemon and herbs. Cube and roast at high heat until golden. Or slice into thick rounds and pan-fry in butter. If this is your first time, try it raw first — it's like a water chestnut with personality.
some people say its almost like eating an apple :).
